A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Carl W. Dunn, Sr. will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2009 at St. Rita Catholic Church with Rev. Craig Scott officiating. Burial will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.
Mr. Dunn, 81, of Alexandria, died Monday, January 5, 2009 at Tioga Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Dunn owned and operated Carl Dunn's Automotive Service in Alexandria for over 30 years. He was a United States Navy veteran of WWII and a member of St. Rita Catholic Church in Alexandria.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Elgin Deville Dunn; daughter, Mary Kathleen "Kathy" Dunn Brown; parents, Lester Willard Dunn and Mamie Michiels Dunn; brothers, Lester E. Dunn, Wallace Dunn, and John Leon Dunn; and sisters, Ethel Bacon and Loyce Dambach.
Survivors include his sons, Carl W. "Sonny" Dunn, Jr. of Alexandria and Donald J. Dunn of Ball; daughter, Cheryl A. Dunn of Alexandria; sister, Joyce Reny of Kingwood, Texas; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria from 4 until 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. until shortly before service time. A Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2009 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.
